Thoughts and Philosophy with Shelton Ervin – Summer Creek High School (TX)

January 11, 2023 • By USTFCCCA

Watch as Coach Shelton Ervin discusses some of his philosophy regarding track and field. He explains that track and field is about evolution for both coaches and athletes. When he talks with his athletes, he stresses that evolution involves giving more than last year, not less. He discusses addition and subtraction and cautions that too much addition can lead to subtraction. He has conversations about being good or great and how self-destructive behavior by an athlete can have a major impact. Challenge your kids to not have bad days but to persevere and fight through and figure it out.
