Watch as Coach explains, and a vaulter demonstrates these mat leg swing drills. The drill starts with the vaulter in the takeoff position with arms up. The toe is pointed down on the swing leg as she drives the toe to the back of the pit while keeping the leg straight. In the 2nd drill the vaulter will swing, tuck, and shoot up, keeping the legs together and the toes pointed back at the top.
