Watch as Coach Tom Hays explains, and vaulters demonstrate this one-step plant pole vault drill. The objective is to get the hands up before you step to the takeoff position. A common error is to step with the takeoff foot and then bring the hands up. The coach can assist by pulling the pole to vertical which helps with the movements of the hands and the feet.
