Watch as Coach Chris Parno explains and demonstrates closed-hand techniques used when passing the baton. The proper position for the outgoing runner's arm is elbow high and then extended outward into the open space of the lane, presenting a large target with an open hand. The hand should be about head level of the incoming runner who can punch the baton straight into the hand. Coach will also point out common mistakes with the close-handed baton pass.
