Watch Coach Scott Hippensteel explains his goals on the distance he wants his runners to cover in a year. Freshman boys run 1,200 miles per year, Sophomore increase to 1,400, Juniors at 1,600 and Seniors between 1,800 to 2,000. If his athletes run 4 miles a day at a 7:30 pace for 30 minutes that comes out to about 1,500 miles per year. He is not saying that you need to run every day but wants his runners to understand what is involved time wise to be successful.
