What Are Your Athletes’ Biggest Influences? with Chet Scott – Built to Lead

December 24, 2024 • By Track and Field/Cross Country Coaches Insider

Watch as Chet Scott explains the 'leadership is influence' concept, and that you know you are a leader if you have followers. If you are going to lead and influence your players, it would be beneficial if you understand what the greatest influences in their lives are. Based on past surveys, the biggest influences in people's lives in America were faith and family. These influences would not be in the top 20 today, so coaches need to understand what does influence their players. Today, the #1 biggest influence for athletes is the media (in general, and this includes social media), and #2 is their culture (where they work or attend school).
