August 26, 2020 • By National Throws Coaches Association

Watch as Coach Al Fereshetian discusses, in detail, mistakes frequently made in coaching the shot put. 1.) When correcting mistakes, do not ignore the root cause. 2.) Focus on fundamentals and avoid getting caught up in the minutia of the event. 3.) Do not overcoach your athletes. 4.) Do not be inconsistent in your feedback to the athlete. 5.) Prioritize your feedback during competition to effectively communicate. 6.) When speaking with athletes, always start with a positive statement on what they are doing well or correctly.
