Infielder’s Timing Hops Drill with Josh Bloomer – Arizona State Univ.

View more from the video provider • July 8, 2024 • By Championship Productions

Watch as Coach Josh Bloomer explains that the infielders should be in motion prior to the pitch reaching the batter. This drill focuses on timing the hop out so that the infielder is landing as the ball is crossing the plate. Coach tosses a ball up and catches it with the opposite hand and the infielders want to be landing their hop as he makes the catch. The drill progresses to the hop and go with the players responding to where the ball is hit. Coach tosses the ball in the air, catches it, and will point to the left or right. The final progression involves a directional step.

Josh Bloomer was previously a coach at Duke University and the University of Arizona.
