Jason Dean (Georgetown ISD) explains that evaluations are a year-long communication process with the principal or athletic coordinator on all aspects of a particular program. He will help educate a principal if they do not have an athletic background on the challenges the individual coaches and programs may face.
Debbie Decker (Katy ISD) explains that she and the campus principal evaluate the head football coach at the end of the season. Athletic coordinators and assistant coordinators work with principals evaluating all other sports' head coaches. Winning is always important, but it is important to look deeper in any program to determine what the kids are getting out of the program.
Steve Keasler (Carroll ISD) explains that all assistant coaches are evaluated by the head coach in every sport. Input from administrators regarding how head coaches conduct their business and responsibilities as a teacher in the classroom and if they are treating kids the right way is essential to any evaluation. He feels that it is his role and responsibility to evaluate head coaches pertaining to how they perform as a coach.
