Technical warm-up - passing patterns to choreograph our building phase Patterns: NOTES: Small-sided game - 3v1 to 3v2 buildup game Small field 50 yards long x 40 yards wide w/ two big goals and divided by a half line Ball always starts w/ GK, players must build in own half (3v1) and find target in opposing half, then join to make it 3v2. Play ends when ball goes out of play, then team that just defended attacks in opposite direction. CPs: same technical points as above, can we play away from pressure?, can we find #s up situations (2v1s, 1v0s)?, is our target moving to create space? NOTES: Expanded small-sided game - 1; 2-4-5-3; 6-8-10; w/ big goal vs 6-8-10; 7-9-11 w/ two counter goals. Additional players are rotated in or used as targets in leiu of counter goals. Additionally, there is a line of cones to represent where Def 3rd ends and MF 3rd begins - approx. 35-40 yards from goal line. Width is ideally full field - approx 70-80 yards wide, length is half field plus a few yards. Restrictions: team def big goal starts with possession, must build out of def 3rd to score on counter goals, team def counter goals can only send two players into def 3rd to pressure. Progressions: add pressure in def 3rd, touch restrictions in def 3rd, # of passes, etc. CPs: same as above, also, tactical decision making (i.e. can we play away from pressure?, can we provide immediate support to teammate receiving ball?, can we move off ball to create space and additional passing options?, avoid duplicating in passing lanes, etc.) NOTES: Game - 9v8 (team w/ 9 has GK, defends big goal) to counter goals, space is same as above
