Watch as Coach Mike Baxter explains, and a hitter demonstrates this wall hinge drill. The hitter will stand about six inches from the wall and hinge at the hips to get into a better athletic base. The hitter's glutes will be on the wall when he hinges but as he loads the back hip, the back glute slides across the wall. This helps take the extra momentum out of the swing and minimizes the negative movement of going back to go forward.
