Mike Powell discusses the difficulty of retaining game officials. He feels that everyone involved needs to become better at making officials feel welcomed. Mike will sometimes sit by a parent who is being loud and who is constantly on an official and let them know that they may be embarrassing their child, and this usually solves the issue. It is important for a school to avoid having the reputation of not caring or not being supportive of game officials.
