Stacey Segal explains the importance of preparing the district’s coaches on effective methods of communicating and engaging parents. She mentions that the NFHS has an incredible and detailed pre-season parent meeting handbook. Assistant ADs in the Dallas ISD work with certain sports and that AD will communicate with those coaches explaining what specific agendas that need be covered in these meetings. Pre-season meetings do not always connect with all parents, so emails, phone calls, and especially handwritten notes are effective in providing one-on-one attention.
