New NIAAA Tragedies Course Launch with Dan Talbot, CMAA – Polk County Public Schools (FL)

February 6, 2025 • By National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association

Dan Talbot, course chair and author of LTC 718, discusses “Leading the Athletic Department Through Tragic Events.” All Athletic Directors will eventually need to deal with tragic events. The course focuses on the immediate response following a tragic event, covering initial communication, developing a post-op team for evaluation of the situation, your response, and better preparation for the next event, as well as the well-being and mental health of an Athletic Director.

The NIAAA champions the profession of athletic administration through educational opportunities, advocating ethics, developing leaders, and fostering community. Find more information on their website here: niaaa.org.
