How to Appropriately Handle Student Misconduct with Jim Walsh – Walsh Gallegos

July 22, 2021 • By ADInsider

Jim Walsh discusses how an AD should handle a disciplinary incident involving a student-athlete. He recommends confronting the student and pointing out that this is a violation of the teams' rules. The student's response may help determine what actions the AD should take. If the infraction is inconsistent with the rules and has a negative impact on the team, the AD has the right to take disciplinary action. If the infraction involves expression, then there may be a constitution issue that will need to be addressed.
