Scouting an Opponent with Brandon Koons – Otterbein College

January 1, 2024 • By National All Sports Virtual Coaches Summit

Watch as Coach Brandon Koons explains what he looks for when scouting an opponent. He always arrives to the games as early as possible to watch the warm-ups and focus on individual players. The opponent's tendencies are important but always try to determine why a team is playing a certain way. Is a team playing a certain way because that is their style or are they are being allowed to play a certain way due to defensive strategy? Pay attention to the opponent's coaches when they are instructing players and making adjustments as often times they give away their strategy.

This clip comes from a full-length session that was featured in the National All Sports Coaches Summit that took place from November 9 - 13, 2020.
