July 8, 2024 • By American Volleyball Coaches Association

Watch as Dr. Lee Dorpfeld discusses some tips for coaches who are dealing with athletes that have experienced some form of trauma. These athletes are not trying to push your buttons or be difficult but due to trauma, they are always in a survival mode. They have difficulty trusting the process and worry about what happens next. He goes over different examples of trauma that an athlete may have experienced and that, as a coach, there is no easy fix. How you react can have a big impact on your athlete.

This video is part of a full-length session from the 2022 AVCA (American Volleyball Coaches Association) Coach of the Year Super Clinic.
