By: Jeff Tipping Provided by: Amplified Soccer The idea behind these 4 dribbling exercises is to teach the players that beating opponents is all about change of speed and changes of direction with the ball. In addition, players must be aware of their surroundings and have their head up scanning the field all the time. Shadow Man - Players are in twos
Nutmegs Red players are standing with a wide stance or a narrow stance without a ball. Blue players have a ball and dribble around and between the red players. Coach counts by 10's. Every time the coach gets to a 10 the red players either widen their stance or narrow their stance. Blue players keep track of how many nutmegs they get total.
Faking The Mannequin
Maestro in the Middle In this set of exercises, we are mostly, working with the middle player. To begin the exercises, have three players in a straight line so that they are sideways on to each other. In other words, they would swivel their head to be able to see both partners. Maybe 10 yards from each other. The idea is for the middle player to ALWAYS be on an imaginary line which connects the two outside players as the two outside players move around. The space between the 2 outside players should never be more than 20 yards.
