Infielder’s Stationary Into a Shuffle Drill with Ricky Watkins – Cypress Lakes High School (TX)

Watch full video with Baseball +Plus here. • September 2, 2025 • By Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association

Watch as Coach Ricky Watkins explains, and infielders demonstrate this stationary into a shuffle drill. Emphasis is on staying below the ball, catching the ball off the index finger, and reading hops. Adding a shuffle works on gaining distance and direction to the target. The drill starts with one ball and the fielder using two hands and evolves into using one hand. Coach repeats the drill using two balls.

Ricky Watkins was formerly a coach at BF Terry High School (TX) and Wharton County Junior College (TX).
