Using Media to Market Athletic Events with Emily Barkley – Union Public Schools (OK)

September 3, 2021 • By ADInsider

Emily Barkley explains how Union High School's athletic events draw a lot of media attention. The media is looking for stories and Union is trying to highlight their student-athletes. Union's main rivals are in the Tulsa area and, along with the new football stadium, this creates extensive media coverage. She mentions the band and spirit squads, but they also work with the student activities office to create theme nights to try to keep the students engaged. Working with youth teams is also key and they involve them in all events.
