Mistreatment of Game Officials by Adults with Mark Uyl – MNSAA

May 21, 2021 • By ADInsider

Mark Uyl explains that MNSAA surveys former game officials every three years to learn why those officials no longer participate in high school athletics. The top two reasons given are age and changes in job or family situations which is the positive response. The negative response is that officials got out because of the way they were treated by adult spectators and coaches. Until schools make an effort to control this mistreatment of officials, the shortage of game officials will continue to be a problem.
