Maintaining Professional Boundaries with Karen Duke – Region 10 Education

August 15, 2023 • By ADInsider

Karen Duke discusses boundary invasions that can result in an act or an omission. Remember that the student-staff relationship is not equal. You are the student's teacher and mentor but not a friend or parent. All teachers and coaches should ask if what they are doing is transparent, approved, and timely. She explains in detail the different types of boundary violations and emphasizes that any boundary invasion issues between staff, coaches, and students can result in a school board situation and legal action.
