Principal Donna Hayward and Athletic Director Lynne Flint share how they've successfully implemented a program aimed at boosting student-athlete academic performance. The initiative begins by identifying athletes who fall below a 2.0 GPA or have an "F" on their report cards. These students meet with the AD to discuss their situation and learn about the appeal process, which includes a meeting with the principal (one appeal allowed per year). Together, the administration and athletes develop strategies to raise their grades, with weekly progress checks. Athletes must get their teachers' signatures on weekly reports covering homework completion, class behavior, and maintaining at least a "C" average. Parents are also required to sign the reports before submission to the AD, ensuring a collaborative effort to support academic success.
