Todd Gulluscio explains how he feels it is more difficult to hold people accountable today. Accountability is not a punishment and does not mean that you don't care. When dealing with students, it is important to use a common language emphasizing that you DO care in either a positive or negative situation. Make sure to convey the 'why' which is based on a student's decisions or actions. The goal is for students to learn accountability in school, and this will carry over to the real world. When dealing with coaches, it is best to do so in a private meeting, making sure that you are emphasizing the agreed-upon standards. Don't make it about them but about upholding the standards.
