July 30, 2018 • By ADInsider

Don't listen to myths, educate yourself about transgender student-athletes and how you should handle a variety of situations that you might encounter within your program.

Myth #1: Transgender boys and girls are not "real" boys and girls and therefore are not deserving of equal competitive opportunity.

Myth #2: Being born with a male body automatically gives a transgender girl an unfair sports competitive advantage.

Myth #3: Non-Transgender boys will pretend to be transgender in order to play on girls sports teams.

Myth #4: The "bathroom predator" falsehood that MTF restroom use consistently with gender identity leads to sexual assaults.

Myth #5: Privacy cannot be provided if transgender students use restrooms and locker rooms consistent with their gender identity.
