We tell the kids to think of squeezing the feet together on the balls of their feet . The last 15 yrs or so they were teaching to drop down to flat foot on delivery then go up on the ball of that left foot . We have had some real disagreements with some big time coaches about that . We have always felt there isn’t enough time to do that with and explosive delivery. I think its all part of this non active reverse thing in the discus . That has always been a sore subject with me . Maybe good for the 6ft 6in + throwers so they can stay in the circle but for guys who don’t have “40 inch sleeve” arms ,it slows the delivery with a host of problems.
