The thing they are not using is the dual and double dual meet. In almost every sport team against team is the norm. In track many many schools run “NO DUAL OR DOUBLE DUAL MEETS!” They run at invitationals with multiple teams of various sizes compete against 5 to 40 schools. Results are good for some schools but there is “Only” one winner. School could have a great day with pr”s ,school records , season bests ect . They could have great day and finish 12th or 20th!! school paper would say “TRACK TEAM HAS GREAT DAY FINISHES 11 TH IN THE STAR BURST RELAYS!! Most students and people in general would say 11th place wow they stink. But headline of STATE BEATS ARCH RIVIAL 85 -83 IN A HEART STOPPER” They say Wow what a great meet i have to go to the next one . or “TRACK TEAM GOES UNDEFEATED AND WINS THE BIG TEN TITLE ” Carries lots of weight with fans and recruits than TRACK TEAM WINS WINDSHIELD RELAYS!!”. you inviting other schools to “YOUR FACILITY “. This forces the athletic dept to improve venues and keep the facilities up to snuff
because other schools will be competing there. Bring back the dual or double dual meet and see the increase of interest in the program.
